selected "enterprise activation" by mistake

Hi all - hoping someone will help this newbie!  I'm trying to set up  "email accounts" in setup and i think when i first opened this a few hours ago i selected "enterprise" instead of "personal emails"  .:Oops:...any ideas how i clear this selection, so i can try to go ahead and set up a personal email account rather than a business one....here's hoping!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

When things get wonky and anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

thank you!  I have spoken to my network provider and they want me to pay an additional £5/month to be able to use the personal email option - outrageous!  i thought that this was what having a blackberry was all about!

Oh! That's a bit different from what you first said...originally, you said you selected Enterprise instead of Personal, which would imply that Personal was at that time an available selection to you, which indicated to me that you already were subscribed to the proper data plan to enable your BB-proprietary services. Now, you say your carrier tells you that you are not subscribed, which should have prevented "Personal" from even being available to you originally. So I am now confused...

 

But, regardless, the BB-level services are indeed proprietary, functioning solely for the BB users and no others. As such, there is additional infrastructure at RIM and the carriers that is required to provide these services, just to the BB users. Consequently, a BB-level data plan is required...data plans that are generic (yet function fine for other devices) do not enable the enhanced and proprietary BB-level services. With hundreds of carriers in the world, each with dozens of different data plans, it's impossible to tell you specifically what any service plan might actually provide. Only the carriers can answer that question. The best thing to do is to decide what services you desire, and then talk to your carrier about obtaining (from them) a data plan that enables what you desire.
