i'm using the 8310 curve - when dialing a number i would like the handset to be silent - i haven't found this topic/option in any of the documentation or in setting up my preferences  - any way to do this?

It's by design. The only way to stop it is to put the phone in silent or vibrate!

that's what i thought, but i have it on silent/vibrate for my incomming calls and it still makes tones when i dial

I'm gonna have to agree with rjhallisey. I have tried every profile and my phone beeps reguardless when dialing a number. Perhaps this is somehow carrier based. Rjhallisey who is your carrier?

No not "Busted". I also read this is more than one post, don't know who wrote them. But I didn't actually try it until now when the poster said it didn't work for him/her. And sure enough it doesn't have any effect on my dialing tone.

just want to thank you all for your replies - guess there's no way to get the handset to dial silently
