Re: trackpad

Hi and Welcome to the Community!

Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Best!

Re: trackpad

Thank you for your help. I brought my BB down to the ATT diagnostic center yesterday and they told me the problem was a solenoid problem and that they could not exchange my BB as my warranty expired.  I went out and bought a go-phone and today I tried your solution and my BB works now. Thank you so much.

Re: trackpad

Well, that's a shame that the ATT folks could not figure out this basic remedy. But, then again, what they may have done could be a deeper diagnostic...and perhaps it is now only working for a short period, and may well fail again. I cannot know as they had it in their hands.

In any event, you are most welcome...enjoy!

Re: trackpad

It is now 3 weeks later and after I was done playing the word mole game my track pad froze up again. I tried the same solution and the track pad is still frozen.

Re: trackpad

Is there any chance that, at ANY TIME in the past, moisture may have intruded into the BB?

Re: trackpad

OK, then I next recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:

  • KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode

It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see if the symptom persists...if it does not, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.

Good luck and let us know!

Re: trackpad

OK great! But, given the history now, I'd be expecting more failures as you proceed over time. Just a precaution -- backup frequently.

Good luck!
