Re: wifi without dataplan

Without a blackberry data plan, this won't work.  Give your carrier a call to get this added to your account.

About the WiFi...  You may have to remove your WiFi profile and readd it.

Here are the steps for OS 6.0

http://docs.blackberry.com/en/smartphone_users/deliverables/18577/Change_move_or_delete_a_saved_Wi-F...

OS 5.0:

Connect to a WiFi - OS 5.0

OS 6.0

These links different model blackberries, but it works the same.

Re: wifi without dataplan

Thanks for the prompt response. I have home wifi, which i can connect to. Earlier my BB could browse the internet with my home wifi but now it is not able to browse. But the setting shows it is connected to home wifi, and it does not give the tick mark, and wifi icon is still grey.

Re: wifi without dataplan

Have you pulled the battery on the blackberry and rebooted your WiFi router?

Re: wifi without dataplan

If the WiFi icon is grey, your BlackBerry is not connecting to your WiFi network correctly. Rebooting your device and router as suggested by Wolf359 may help - to reboot your BlackBerry, remove the battery for 15-30 seconds, reinsert and wait for the device to reboot. To reboot your router, simply unplug it for 10 seconds and then plug it back in.

If that still doesn't work, try connecting to another WiFi network. Does your phone connect to that? If so, let us know.

Re: wifi without dataplan

Rebooted the BB and also tried with different wifi networks - at home, at office, still did not work. It used to connect earlier. And in browser I have only the option for hotspot browser - other options are not even displayed.

Could this be an issue of some setting mismatch? please suggest.

Re: wifi without dataplan

If this is the case, that sounds to me like something has gone wrong with your WiFi on your Curve, but the good news it's likely just a software issue.

One thing to do to start is to reset your WiFi settings. To do this, go to your WiFi Network area (specific instructions may depend on your device). Once there, press the BB Menu button and select Options. Click on the button to "Reset Settings". This will restore your WiFi settings to the factory default settings.

Does this now work? If not, then you may nee to reload the software on your device. To do this, follow the instructions in the following link:

http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Device-software-for-BlackBerry/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-S...

Hopefully you won't need to go that far, but that should get you back up and running if the previous solution doesn't help.

Just an additional comment: Some apps may interfer with the WiFi on your device. If you installed any apps recently, consider deleting them, at least temporarily, to see if that helps.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Wifi and gprs issue

Helloo...

I am using BSNL gprs. Also I am using wifi while i am in the office. The issue is that, even if my wifi is connected, i am able to browse only through my dataplan... Its not getting connected through WIFI.. I have to reboot it to make it work... The main stupid think i found in blackberry is that, their is no option to reboot the OS. we have to remove the battery to do it. Also my whatsapp, facebook messenger wont work. It  works for a day after rebooting.. I have to remove battery to reboot  the mobile to make these application to work. This have to  do this 2-3 times a day to make my application work. I thought atleast it will work with wifi... and its not... What to do...?? There  is no updates released for this OS 6.0 . Any idea??Wifi

Re: Wifi and gprs issue

You can take the device to the store and they can reload the software.  Please backup your data before doing so and also use blackberry protect.  The link for blackberry protect is in my signature.
