BB Desktop software starts on a white screen - no error messages

Dear guys,

I can't seem to find a problem like mine with a satisfactory solution so I started a new thread.

When I start Blackberry Desktop Software (6.1, B38), I see a splash screen with BB logo, then the program "starts" but all I get is a white window. Just the program window.

So far, my Blackberry Toch 9800 is not even connected. When I connect & hit "sync" on the device, another white screen pops, now with the top bar indicating to unlock the device. (The little pop up window is still white). Funny enough, I type the device password and the pop up closes, and I am brought back to the "main white" screen, no buttons, logos or anything, just a white window with the software name in the top bar and the minimize, maximize, close buttons. I hit close & the bloody thing closes (the only thing which seems to work)

In this process, I see no error messages, hangs or delays.

I am running a 64 bit toshiba laptop with Windows 7 ultimate SP1.

I tried all I could think of:

- Changed screen configuration to all possibilities.

- Run the program in compatibility modes for all other OSs

- Re-installed (had the same problem with the previous version 6.1 B034)

I assume there's something wrong with the software, not the device. Just in case, the device has all latest (23jan12) updates from Blackberry.

If I can't get a solution, I will invite you all to see how far will the freaking laptop fly from a 30 story balcony.

Cheers from Argentina.

Re: BB Desktop software starts on a white screen - no error messages

Hey Gonzo666,

Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.

I noticed you stated you re-installed the software, there is a way to perform a clean uninstall of the BlackBerry Desktop Software which should resolve your issue.

Follow all the steps in this KB article: www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02206

Once completed, restart the computer and go to www.blackberry.com/desktop to download BlackBerry Desktop Software.

Let me know if you run into any trouble.

Re: BB Desktop software starts on a white screen - no error messages

Not to hijack a post but I have the same exact issue using either 6.1 rel b038 or 7 b044.  Both after a clean install of the OS.  I am using IE 9 and I mention that because I have seen reference to others having problems with a browser other than IE7.  Please tell me we aren't using the built in browser to display anything because with all of the AV, malware and other plugins in a corporate environment that can be a minefield.

Hello,

I encountered exactly the same issue - white screen when starting BB Desktop Software.

Fresh install has been done following the instructions given above.

I tried software version 6.x and 7.x Same result.

Does there is any known solution ?

Does the java version and / or .Net may affect the BB software ?

Thanks!
