BlackBerry Desktop Trouble

I recently downloaded Blackberry Desktop Software 4.3 and whenever I plug in my Blackberry Pear, I go into Options > Serial Settings and click Detect for it to find the Port Number. It immediately pops up with "Please make sure your device is plugged in correctly" then it says "cannot find device". I don't know why it keeps saying that. Is this the latest version of Blackberry desktop?

I figured out that my computer isn't recognizing that my Pearl is plugged in, neither is my charger.
