I removed also version 7 and replace it for the "old" CD-version 220.127.116.11 bundle 42. After this it was working well again in combination with my BB9780.
I'm working with Windows7 and Outlook 2010.
I don't know if this is allowed but I think that Blackberry should be happy that someone is doing this because from BB site untill now not any kind of support. You can not communicate with a company hows selling communication equipment. Strange isn't
My operator (KPN mobile, The Netherlands) was very helpfull to get this solution for me.
Good luck with this "downgrade" but it's working
