Help! I lost all blackberry contacts

When trying to sync my backberry contacts to my mac I accidentally presses "overide BB with Mac contacts"  and now all of my blackberry contacts are gone.  Is there a way to reverse this or with one swift click I erased everything?  Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Help! I lost all blackberry contacts

Have you ever done a backup of your device or do you sync your contacts with a PIM on your Mac?

Re: Help! I lost all blackberry contacts

Hi, I had the same problem ! I think we are both screwed thanks to what amounts to the worst possible programming of "Sync" I can imagine.. Blackberry should be hung for pushing out software that does this (here are my reproduction steps):

  1. Download and install Blackberry Sync for Mac (mine is 1.0.1 build 2, and I just did an Apple Software update
  2. Plug in phone and select Contacts for two-way Sync
  3. It says "First sync - would you like to replace contacts on your device" ?

Here's where I paused, and should have backed up the phone first, but I thought - "How stupid could Blackberry be ?" Two way sync could create dupes but would not be destructive, at least not without clearly using the words DATA LOSS. It's not even replacing if you replace WITH NOTHING. That's just DESTROYING.

  4. I clicked yes, and my phone contacts were ALL GONE. The two contacts on the mac (apple and one other I'd entered) appeared on the phone.

THIS IS A TOTAL FAIL. Sure I could have backed up. I wish I didn't assume blackberry knows what they're doing.

  5. Since then I loaded my SIM phone book, at least that was not wiped out. I also backed up what I have.

HAVE YOU GOT ANY HELP ON RESTORING WHAT YOUR PROGRAM DESTROYED ???? . This is pretty much a TOTAL FAIL on blackberrys part, the biggest I've seen yet, so I'm moving to Motorola. I don't expect they can help, I expect they'll just place the blame on the consumer. Yet their error message did not say "data loss", so I won't accept an excuse. Without a conflict, for the first sync to wipe out the phone IS JUST PLAIN STUPID, and frankly it's what loses customers. Buh bye.

Re: Help! I lost all blackberry contacts

Hi,

The same thing just happened to me and I'm furious and frustrated. I saw that no one replied to your problem/question. Is there anyone who could help me please!   I'm desperate with a terminal disease and I lost all my contacts from my device while"sync" was taking place. I also use a Mac.

This really sucks!
