Linux support - To marketing Dept

[ Edited ]

RIM sales grew 102% to $1.88 billion for the quarter that ended March 1 08. What are the odds, of RIM having enough funds or will to support, their customers using Linux? A community which grew from 1.37% in Sept 2007 to 2.09% in Oct 2008.

Re: Linux support - To marketing Dept

This really doesn't answer your question to the Marketing Department, I don't even know if they read this forum. They could.

Have you looked here, for some Linux support?

Re: Linux support - To marketing Dept

RIM is all about closed source, and even the Mac Support is incomplete. So I don't think they'll do gnu/linux stuff anytime soon.

Re: Linux support - To marketing Dept

Unfortunatly, but smartphones is a competitive market. Which means next purchase, if things are not moving ahead with RIM,  is to be a nice open source gizmo. Just giving them a hint, if their onto the case, might move, if not people will.

Re: Linux support - To marketing Dept

Agree, couldn't they contract a couple of folks to at least make an Ubuntu/Debian desktop client to help backup and sync??

I think a lot of us will flood to the Android handsets..I run desktop manager under Wine (windows emulation layer)

as I use Ubuntu..with mixed results..
