Re: Option's value is unacceptable" while configuring the sync settings for Outlook

shall we begin again?
Isn't is a widely recognised abbreviation in English for 'is not', although i concede to putting two of the letters the wrong order which is unforgivable and unnecessarily confusing,

I am no longer able to sync my organiser anymore due to the error
Sync error message = CRTranRec::GetLinkedRecordld:Invalid Record ld, this coincided with the new Hotmail (outlook) combining all my contacts which i did in error and is seemingly irreversible!
Having investigated this i understand, correctly or otherwi,se this is caused by some contacts being in a format not recognised by outlook.
I have tried to identify which contacts are causing the problem but as there are over 1600 I am unable to do so.
i installed DM 6 which worked fine..

However since then i have a new laptop with Microsoft outlook 2013.

Ahhh...the error message...excellent, thank you! Refer:

  • KB31008 "CRTranRec:: GetLinkedRecordId : Invalid linked record Id" is displayed when synchronizing Contacts with BlackBerry Desktop Software

I can find no reference, however, to the likely cause you state (Hotmail)...only the blank image issue documented in that KB.

I know of no tricks to try and more quickly find the specifically offending item(s). I was going to suggest using a different view in Outlook (e.g., a "list" view rather than the "cards" type of views), but in trying it before posting, I cannot yet find in Outlook a way to include in any list view the stored images (so as to more quickly scan through a list rather than card by card). You may have better luck finding a way to display your contacts in Outlook in a manner that allows you to do this.

As for reversing the Hotmail incorporation you chose to do, the method to reverse it would be manual, inside of Outlook itself. Tedious, but not impossible. Unless you happened to take a backup (e.g., copied your contacts to a PST) before doing the merge...in which case you would have a much faster recovery method.

I always recommend the most recent Desktop Software version...the reason there are newer versions is for the obvious feature enhancements, but also for bug fixes and such. Indeed, you can try this thread:

It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.

Since Outlook 2013 is (as per the previously referenced KB) incompatible with ALL versions of the BlackBerry Desktop Software, there is no advice available toward making it function. Everything you need to do to recover from your current situation must be done in a prior Outlook version (e.g., 2010).

Good luck!
