Retrieving Memo Pad data

Hi All,

I recently sold my Bold 9700 and then realized I didn't manually copy my Memo Pad data anywhere before I did a Wipe of the device.... I do have backups from the BB Desktop Software. .. can I somehow retrieve this memo pad data from the backups  without having another Bold to restore it to? .. I do have an old 8320 Curve I could throw it on there if it will take it, and/or can I sync it to Outlook? (no it wasn't sync'd to Outlook in the past because I don't normally use Outlook) .. A few of those memos are really important.

(And sensitive info too, hope they get truly wiped in the Wipe process. )

Thanks .. Tracy

Re: Retrieving Memo Pad data

ou can restore the 9700 back up to your old 8320.

Article ID: KB10339 How to use BlackBerry Desktop Software to restore data to a BlackBerry smartphone from a backup file

For BlackBerry Desktop Software 6.0 to 7.0

  1. Open the BlackBerry Desktop Software.
  2. Click Device.
  3. Select Restore in the list.
  4. Select a backup file.
  5. Choose Select device data and settings.
  6. Select the databases to restore and click Restore.
  7. A warning will appear that all data will be replaced with a backup file. Click Yes.
  8. When the process is complete, disconnect the BlackBerry smartphone from the computer.

*****************************

There are a couple of options for extracting and viewing data from a the backup files.

1. The IPD Parse macro is designed to read a Blackberry IPD file and create reports in MSWord or MSExcel. It is free, and you can find out more here: https://sites.google.com/site/ipdparse/home
2. Another options is MagicBerry from MenaStep... which extract from a backup IPD or BBB file, split IPD files, etc. http://menastep.com/pages/magicberry.php
3. Another IPD and BBB file utility is BlackBerry Backup Extractor, and is available for PC and Mac, and can be found here: http://www.blackberryconverter.com/ There is a free and paid version.

Re: Retrieving Memo Pad data

Hi.. yep I got my data onto the Curve without problem and then came back in here to update and saw your note. That was painless.. and I'm glad I had my old Curve as I was supposed to sell that yesterday and it didn't happen. .

But best of all is your the other info on how to extract the data without another BB. that's great because I may run into other stuff that I missed, just like the memo pad data.

Awesome info !! Thanks!!!!
