Sync'ing the contact list - it won't

I thought my problem of not being able to sync properly was solved 4 weeks ago but the problem is not completely behind me as I just noticed that sync'ing now only updates the calendar.  Looking at the log, I see an "Internal Error #4198.  Translation Canceled!" when the system tries to sync the contact list.

Got any ideas?  Tx,  Darrel

you have an error number. Their purpose is for people to search the web.

3s for the search on google :

I'm sure that's not the sole purpose of error messages. Afterall, they have to number them to give them all their own identity.

I am pretty sure your intellisync folder is corrupt. Do the following:

Make sure your BB is not connected to the computer.

Close the desktop manager.

Go to C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application data

Delete the entire Intellisync folder.

Connect your BB and open the desktop manager.

Sync your device.

Re: Sync'ing the contact list - it won't

Tami - thanks ..... but .... under C;\docs and settings\user name\  there isn't a application data folder.  There is one under C:\docs and settings\all users but there isn't an intellisync folder there.  I've tried to create an application folder under "User Name" but the system won't let me create one; it returns a pop up saying: "Cannot rename New folder: A file with the name you specified already exists. Specify a different file name."  Obviously, I'm not a computer person.  Any other ideas?  Thanks again.  Darrel

Re: Sync'ing the contact list - it won't

go to C:\
hit CTRL-F (that opens the search sidebar on the left of the Windows Explorer)
search for intellisync

You should find at least one folder. That's the one you need to delete.

No joy on the search.  Looks like that is the problem.  Any idea as to how to proceed?  Darrel

Re: Sync'ing the contact list - it won't

I'm not sure what version of windows you are using but hopefully this will help:

  • In Windows® 98

    C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Intellisync

  • In Windows 2000 or Windows® XP

    C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Intellisync

  • In Windows ME

    C:\Windows\Application Data\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Intellisync

  • In Windows Vista™

    C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Intellisync

  •

    Also:

The Application Data and AppData folders are hidden by default.  To make the hidden files and folders available, complete the follow steps for your operating system:

    In Windows XP

    1. Open My Computer.
    2. On the menu bar, click Tools > Folder Options.
    3. Click the View tab.
    4. Select the Show hidden files and folders option.
    5. Click Apply.
    6. Click OK.

    In Windows Vista

    1. Go to Start > Control Panel.
    2. Click Classic View.
    3. Click Folder Options.
    4. Click the View tab.
    5. Select the Show hidden files and folders option.
    6. Click OK.

The Intellisync folder will be regenerated after the synchronization.
