Re: Synch error - failed to get record

Hello BobB10 and welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.

Sorry to hear you are having sync issues.

Just a few clarification questions to ensure correct support is given:

  • What version of BlackBerry® Desktop Software are you using?
  • What desktop translator are you synching with - as in Microsoft® Outlook® or Yahoo!®?
  • Can you provide the Tif log (as shown in  KB01451 "How to turn on advanced synchronization logging if a wired synchronization fails" and ensure you sync only the Contacts as this is the database having the issue)

Thanks!

  • I re-opened BB Desktop sw and re-synched with contacts only selected.
  • I selected show hidden files and run a search but I cannot find a tif.log
  • However I paste an extract from the PtTrace.log for the last synch

Re: Synch error - failed to get record

Uninstall the current version of Desktop Software and reinstall 6.1 from www.blackberry.com/software/desktop

Once downgraded try the sync once more and let me know how you make out.

Thanks.

Re: Synch error - failed to get record

Another error occurs after following these steps:

  • I uninstalled blackberry desktop software v7.0 using windows control  panel  add/remove programmes
  • I downloaded Desktop Software v6.1.0 B38 (Multilanguage) and run standard installation.
  • On install completion the Desktop software opened and home page states that it is version 7.0 Bundle 2406 – ie the previous version.
  • I connected BB Torch 9860 and initiated synch.
  • Message window appears ‘Action engine loading configuration’
  • Then ‘unknown error reported’ message pops up
  • Synch stalls at this point.

HELP!

Re: Synch error - failed to get record

Update to last post

The ‘about BB software ‘ pop-up shows it is version 6.1.0.36

Selecting ‘configure settings’ on the organizer page reports ‘uknown error reported’ while action engine loading configuration.

Still require help to get the synch working.

Re: Synch error - failed to get record

Update.

Re-booted computer and synch now works. Phew. thanks for help. In future I will think carefully before I update BB Desktop sw when new versions are released. I think i will wait a year in the hope that all the bugs are sorted before i start using it.
