Hi guys,

I've been working with BlackBerries for a while now, and have had to help quite a few people in reloading thier OS. We run on a BES here, and I have had quite a few request that they be able to keep thier old messages as a backup, but not restore it right away, only later if needed, and I've yet to figure out how. I was just wondering, if I do an advanced backup and save just the messages, reload the OS and re-activate on the BES, can the messages be APPENDED to the recent messages at a later point?? Or.. you can only REPLACE the messages that have come in since the restore with the old backed up messages?

Restoring a backup of anything to a BlackBerry will overwrite whatever is currently in that database.   So in your situation, it would clear out any new email thats been received.

The trick is just to prevent new messages from being forwarded to the device until you finished the restore, because in this case, you would have an inconsistent mail flow.
