Re: Blackberry Messenger

If both of you are on the routine BlackBerry Data Plan, unlimited data, you'll have no additional charges.

BlackBerry Messenger uses data from your Data Plan, there is NO individial messaging charge, regardless of where in the world the two participants are located.

No, text messaging is SMS messaging. That's a totally different animal.

Do you have a BlackBerry now? Does it send and receive email, go to the internet, etc.? Then you have what is called a BIS BlackBerry Data Plan.  Your BBMessenger data will come from that service.

Not necessarily.

If your boyfriend has a US carrier BlackBerry (let's say from Tmobile) and travels to Afgahanistan with it, he will have two choices.

  • Get a Tmobile International Data Plan.
  • Get the device unlocked for use on another carrier other than the one to which it is branded, and then subscribe to voice and data service in his foreign location.

How do I unlock my BlackBerry?

Re: Blackberry Messenger

Since I have experienced somewhat of the same situation may i suggest the following

1) Check how much the Unlimited International Data plan is for T-mobile

2) Google or try to find what companies in Afghanistan may provide a BIS service. If there is a local service (since I've never been to afghanistan, i don't know if they support or still provide this feature) It will be MUCH cheaper - However do remember it should be unlocked.

The reason I am saying this is because I have an unlocked BB from my home country, when I came to visit the states the 1ST time, I had an international data plan from Kuwait. I came back and found my bill to be what is approx 600 US dollars. (i only stayed 2 weeks)

Next time i went to the states I got a new line, and got the local BIS data plan, MUCH cheaper, and MUCH better, moreover the signal will be stronger.

So point is, If afghanistan offers this, ur bf should probably choose to buy a line there and subscribe to a local BIS data plan :smileyhappy:

Gluck ^_^
