If you get a PlayBook you don't have to, you can access all files. With a file manager app you can copy, cut, and paste to and from a BB phone.  And it is better than Android tablets (Adobe flash and PDF built in, HD video, tethered internet with bridge, etc.).  I have tried both and kept the PlayBook.

Re: Blackberry desktop manager on Android?

I like the Playbook but it's over priced and doesn't have a microSD expansion slot.  If it has microSD I would have probably bought one.  But I need more than 16gigs and I can't afford $600 or $700 for a tablet.  I've been a BB guy for a long time but I've been more than a bit disappointed with them of late.

Re: Blackberry desktop manager on Android?

BTW... I've tried the Bridge software and it seems painfully slow.  When I tether my laptop to my BB phone and simply turn on the wireless internet with Desktop Manager my laptop flies on the net.  The BB phone works beautifully this way.  The Playbook using bridge was painfully slow and aggrivating.

BlackBerry USB and Modem Drivers ITA

What does this allow you to do?  Do this make your phone useable as a modem?

Re: Blackberry desktop manager on Android?

I don't know about that. But for PC's or Apple you can use an app called "tether" that will use your Blackberrys as a modem through your data plan. On the Playbook you can use the bridge browser, or if your carrier allows it you can tether the normal browser (I can't tell any difference between the two). And it is faster than tethering to a PC.

The Playbooks are on sale everywhere in US this week for $399/64gb version.
