Cannot use 8 GB microSD card on 8310

My 8310 keeps formating the 8GB microSD card to 4GB size. This is hardcoded limitation in current handheld software version 4.2.2.194 I am running now.  I am inclined not to believe rumors on the new handheld software version 4.5 being available soon. The 8310 users were fed rumors about the new version 4.3 being available six months ago. It is not good to ignore non-corporate customers to such an extend as you are doing it now.

Re: Cannot use 8 GB microSD card on 8310

Fortunately 4.5 is not a rumor.  I downloaded it a few days ago from "http://click2down.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=203&Item..." and it is sucessfully working on my 8320.  It's a great improvement to the boring old operating system.  It still has a way to go allow Blackberry to compete evenly with other smartphones, but it is a good start. It may support the 8GB card, unlike 4.2 which has a 4GB max.

Re: Cannot use 8 GB microSD card on 8310

I have the 8310 with OS 4.5 and I can assure you that the 8GB microSD does show the full capacity in my Curve. I cannot verify for OS 4.2 because I bought the 8GB card after I upgraded the OS.

Re: Cannot use 8 GB microSD card on 8310

I'm new to BB, why do you go to Click2Down to get the OS? Is that an authorized version of the OS?

Re: Cannot use 8 GB microSD card on 8310

I know how to find my version. I don't know why I can't get 4.5 from RIM.

"I don't know why I can't get 4.5 from RIM."

RIM has not released 4.5; it still is in beta testing. OS sources may not be RIM-sponsored; you would be downloading and installing software w/o any official support. As 4.5 is unreleased you may also encounter issues and incompatibilities w/your installed apps.

Just facts...

Thanks for the 4.5 software download nfo. I have installed, everything works fine. I am impressed with the video recording option.
