Accepted Solution

Error from BlackBerryID and Protect

I received an advice to upgrading BlackBerry ID.

I did it.

Then was necessary Restart; OK restart.

NOW I have a BlackberryID updated but BBProtect disabled

Protect wants last version of BBID, but when a window appear for download a new version of BBID the result is "There is no new version for BBID" (I just have the last one)

Also BBM wants new version of BBID.

I tried to reinstal Protect: impossible

Protect from Web works in all function: find device, ear sing and send messagge to device.

What is the solution?

Re: Error from BlackBerryID and Protect

Hi and Welcome to the Community!!

Please try this sequence:

1) Remove both AppWorld and the Identity app from your BB

  • KB10040 How to view or remove installed applications on a BlackBerry smartphone
  • If it requests that you reboot the BB, do so

2) Do a Batt-Pull reboot (power on, remove battery, wait, insert battery, wait), even if redundant to the one you did in step 1.

3) Install (on your BB) a fresh copy of AppWorld, during which it should also install the latest version of the Identity app:

4) Do another Batt-Pull reboot

5) See if it now works.

Cheers!

Re: Error from BlackBerryID and Protect

I've followed ALL passes you wrote.

After all procedure I opened AppWorld and the message is "AppWorld wants latest version on BBID".

But I downloaded it!!

Also Protect when starts, does a control of Identity and it returns as "disabled".

Now it doesn't work neither Appworld nor Protect

What is the solution?

Thanks at all

"After"? As in, you conducted all 5 steps, then launched AppWorld, and received this error? That is indeed strange...for I would have thought that error would have presented in step 3. Did you see, during step 3, that it installed BOTH AppWorld AND the Identity app?

Stand by...I see you have a follow up post...

In the public KBs, there is not one for the 80002 error you mention...there is an 80003 KB, and perhaps the resolutions it has might work for you:

  • KB29613 The error "BlackBerry Identity installation failed. Please try again later. (80003)" is displayed within BlackBerry App World

Good luck and let us know!

Re: Error from BlackBerryID and Protect

Hi, I have repeated step 1 to 5 for about 3 times, but the present result is that in the list of Apps there isn't BBID.

So I have tried with KB29613 as you advice me.

No one Attempt1/2/3 has works.

Maybe other configurazion must cBanca Etruria ontrolled? As APN or TLS or other???

Is it possible download directly BBID?

Please help me using BBProtect

Thanks

Re: Error from BlackBerryID and Protect

The Identity App is what enables BBID...I don't know why it's not properly installing for you. I know of no link to directly download it...only as a component of installing BBWorld, but you've not yet revealed if, during those 5 steps I gave you, the Identity app reinstalled or not. I cannot see you nor your device...I have only your words to guide me.

I don't quite understand your other questions...there seem to be many letters left out of several words, making it pretty much not understandable. For APN and TLS settings, you would have to ask your mobile service provider.

Indeed...maybe that's your best next step...formal support. You seek that from your mobile service provider.

Good luck!

Re: Error from BlackBerryID and Protect

wait for a moment, again.

In the first and second time i tried 5 steps BBID was installed (downloaded from Appworld), but in the other tentatives BBID doesn't download any more BBID.

My Carrier doesn't help me for problem of specific App of my terminal.

There is not  a its wireless problem or bug.

Thank a lot

"tentatives"? I don't understand...

Actually, whoever at your carrier told you that is mistaken. Your carrier is 100% responsible for delivery of all services to your device, of which BBID is one. As a result, they are likewise 100% responsible for all formal support for all services that you pay them for. Consider...you do pay them...and they are not delivering. Only they (your carrier) have access to their systems by which to check what is going on. Only they (your carrier) have access to the formal escalation channel so that your issue could receive formal support from BlackBerry. Please see this "sticky" post, along with the threads to which it links, for helpful information to guide you as you proceed:

Hopefully, this information will be of use to you.

If you still do not wish to attempt to seek formal support, then your next step would be a complete OS reload of your device. If you wish to attempt that, then please first review and conduct the Backup processes discussed via the link below in my auto-sig on this post.

Once you have a full and complete backup, then the simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):

1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below.

2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages

3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:

  • It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.

5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
  • C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

6a) For changing your installed BB OS level (upgrade or downgrade), you can launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC.

6b) Or, for reloading your currently installed BB OS level as well as for changing it, bypass the Desktop Software and use LOADER.EXE directly, by proceeding to step 2 in this process:

If, during the processes of 6a or 6b, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.

You may also want to investigate the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe it is capable of.

You may also want to try the "Bare Bones OS Reload Procedure" to attempt to narrow down the precise causal item:

  1. Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
  2. If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
  3. If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
  4. Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
  5. If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents

When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.

If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.

If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.

You may also need the use of these tricks:

If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

  • KB19915How to perform a clean reload of BlackBerry smartphone application software using BlackBerry Desktop Software

Good luck and let us know!
