Have to "have" a Blackberry server?

This is a newbie question - my apologies - but I have been unable to find a clear answer elsewhere.

I want my crew to use Blackberry devices.

- Do I "have to have" a Blackberry Server in order to sync calendars?

- Ditto re email.  Can I point the Blackberry to my POP3 account?

Many thanks

What mail server are you running? Is your mail hosted by someone?

Many thanks

Re: Have to "have" a Blackberry server?

Thanks for the reply -

- no I do not have (nor want) MS Exchange, Lotus, or Groupwise.  Way too expen$ive.  Besides, our organization is relatively small (less than 20 guys).

- re email, yes we're using a POP3 account via our service provider.

So, is the bottom line that if I don't use MS Exchange, Lotus, or Groupwise, that I cannot sync calendars with my guys via a Blackberry device?

thx

Not wirelessly natively.  You could sync google calendars or use desktop manager to tether and sync however.
