Hi I'm new to BB and this forum.

Just got an unlocked 9900, found a few issues, e.g. unable to use BB maps, App worlds, etc. So I want to reload the OS. I'm now on Vodafone sim, but I don't know if reloading with Vodafone UK OS (downloaded from link on blackberry website) will make it locks to vodafone. any idea?

Hi superlattice,

Reloading the OS with the Vodafone UK OS will not lock your phone to Vodafone UK or any other carrier, so you're all clear there. That said though, if your phone is from a different carrier originally, you will need to delete a file called Vendor.xml first.  This file is located in the same folder as the Loader.exe file, so just delete it before running the Loader.exe file and you should be all good to go!

Re: How To Reload Your Operating System

Awesome! Are you with Vodacom South Africa? If so, it looks like they have OS 6.0.0.668 available for download here...

Try deleting the file named Vendor.xml located in the same folder as the Loader.exe file, then run the Loader.exe file.  If that still doesn't work, try disconnecting your computer from the internet.  If that still doesn't work, post back and I'll walk you through another method.

Re: How To Reload Your Operating System

I try to follow all the steps .I'm using blackberry 9800 and have error507.I try downloading the software many times and I did delete the vendor.xml . but all.... keep on stuck at updating applications(loading module) "net_rim_platform_resource_en.cod"  ,the longest is 9 hour...and then I abort it because I gave up...

I really need help.because I've spent 5 days trying to fix this but still no luck.

Re: How To Reload Your Operating System

[ Edited ]

Hey im in some real trouble, ive done everything mentioned on the first few pages of this thread to reload my Blackberry 8520's operating system, it runs all smoothly until halfway through the process i get an error message saying "application loader was uable to connect to your device. Please re connect your device, enter the password if required, then retry" This is a real problem because i dont have a password on my blackberry. Everytime i click retry the same message pops up. ive tried taking the battery out and re doing it bus still the message pops up. Can someone help me please?
