Kindly help me in obtaining a solution as I am unable to view attachments in my Blackberry Storm 9530. Also I am unable to upgrade to Blackberry Software 5.0.

At the time a Email has been received with attachment, i open the mailbox in my Blackberry Storm 9530, although i am able to read the content in the mail, i then click on the attachment - Open attachment -The message displayed is "This attachment type cannot be viewed on your device".

If you are on BES, then see your BES admins for assistance.
If you are not on BES, then please check for a latent IT Policy that may be blocking this:
If you are on BIS, refer:
Ensure that the attachment conforms to the supported file types. If it does, then I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
1) Register HRT
2) Delete and Resend Service Books
3) Batt Pull Reboot
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should try deleting and re-adding your BIS configuration for the affected email accounts. Otherwise, you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support.
