Re: Missing apps with device software update

Hello,

As RIM moves in and out of contractual relationships for "pre-loaded software", these things change. It can be as simple as the developer of the pre-loaded software didn't want to port their app to the later version of the OS. And it can be as complicated as a contractual issue between RIM and the developer.

If you install your OS package to your PC (obtained via the download portal), then the RIM Desktop Software (in the AppLoader section) will present to you your specific device OS along with all of the available add-ons...with check-boxes to select and remove items to/from your BB. I suspect you'll find the DataViz standard ToGo apps there and can re-install them that way. As for others, they may be gone for good if any of the above issues apply to that particular app (typically the pre-loaded games).

Good luck!

Hello,

That's odd...but, you didn't reveal the OS you migrated from or to, so it's a little hard to compare to anything...can you provide that information?

Otherwise, you might want to try a clean OS reload...let us know if you need instructions for that.

Good luck!

Re: hi i recently updated my phone( bb 9320) after updatin...

Thank you. Given your situation, I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):

1) Register HRT

  • KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
  • Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app

2) Delete and Resend Service Books

  • KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
  • If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
  • KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
  • Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.

3) Batt Pull Reboot

  • Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.

Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then it may be that your particular carrier blocks the display of that option unless and until they have an OS update available.

BTW -- the on-device OS update method is, IMHO, the most risky method there is. With that method, an on-device backup is taken, then used as the source of restore after the update completes. But, if anything should go wrong, that on-device backup is lost forever. Using a PC to perform the update allows you to take a backup to your PC, which will forever be available to you to use for a manual restore should anything go wrong with the update process.

Good luck!
