Saving to Device Memory

[ Edited ]

I am attempting to use Documents to Go (the free version).  I kept getting a file system error (12), and after tracking it down, I realize I have a problem being able to access my device memory.  I followed the instructions on the dataviz help forum, http://forums.dataviz.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=274&p=646&hilit=system+error+12#p646, and when I try to save one of my pictures to my device memory, I get "operation not allowed in read only directoy."

What do I need to do to make this work?  Any help is appreciated.

I'm not sure what you're doing... DocumentsToGo doesn't have anything to do with saving pictures or images.

What I meant is the following:

When following Dataviz' instructions to get Docs to Go to work, they initally mention making sure that you can access your device memory, b/c Docs to Go needs to access this to function.  Dataviz then recommends trying to save one of your pix to device memory to ensure this works.

For me, it does not, which is probably why docs to go doesn't work.

Any idea how to make my device memory NOT read only?  I am a private user (not with a company).  I hope that by fixing this, I will be able to use Docs to Go.

Re: Saving to Device Memory

Is this happening when you try to save to the phones memory, or to the media card (assuming you have one installed on the phone)?

To the device memory.  For example, I have plenty of photos on the phone, but when I try to "move" one of them to a folder in device memory, I get a permission error trying to do that.

Re: Saving to Device Memory

Did you ever find a way to read and write to your device memory?  I am having the same problem with Documents to Go after upgrading to the new BB operating system.

Re: Saving to Device Memory

Never answered (since June 7). Anyway I eventually was able to SAVE-AS, and open Doc-To-Go and other programs, as well as FILE MGR ~although I don't know what I did to fix it? . However, the issues about SHEET-to-Go spreadsheets remain as above.... DataViz sites refer you back to Rim/BB. and then recently, nearly a year later, am having similar problems opening apps (like DtG) SUDDENLY and after any reboot, the Q10 takes up to 30 minutes to “rebuild its directory “ for the hub and File Manager! Does anyone know why? Is this also from a newer “OS update “ «~many of which seem to screw up numerous functions ~ for weeks -months before settling down to work as-specified. (heaven knows why, OR BB does & doesn't say?)

Yes, I see you had posted in a four year old thread. That's never a good idea as it likely gets lost due to age.
