BES 4.0.0 License transfer to BES 4.1.6 New Server

I already have all my users in the new server...

The last move is to transfer the licenses. I have 2 set is licenses 5 groups of 6 alphanumeric. (20 +1). This process I think is only cut and paste of those 2 sets Licenses.

I have investigated and the SRP need to be transfer too? How is the exact process to do this?

I observed that in the properties of the new server are editable fields in SRP and authentication key. As I found the place to paste teh 2 codes of licenses.

Thanks in Advance

The SRP key is the server license.

What is it exactly that you're doing here and what is your end goal?

Re: BES 4.0.0 License transfer to BES 4.1.6 New Server

My goal is to leave the old server hardware and BES Version 4.0.0 in a clean way without servies disruption. I already succeded in this matter. I tried to pay for the upgrade service, but they want a same server upgrade only in mind. And I read that was posible in this way. I pay the upgrade of the software license to version 4.1.6. of course with the local BES respresentative.

I used a trial for transfer the devices (only 11). All work fine and better than before. No database trash or old settings.

My last move is to trasnfer my licenses to the new server and wipe and forget of the old server. My users are happy and no one is with out service for more tha 30 Mins in each device.

Thanks in advance.

Re: BES 4.0.0 License transfer to BES 4.1.6 New Server

ok, so Launch the BlackBerry Server Configuration application on the BES and copy out the SRP infromation.

Stop and set the BES services to disabled on the source server.

place the SRP information into the target servers BlackBerry Server Configuration.  As long as you have all handhelds running OS 4.0 or > they'll get the updated SRP information and you'll be good to go.

KB04744 - Locate and change the SRP ID and SRP Authentication Key

Re: BES 4.0.0 License transfer to BES 4.1.6 New Server

Hi ReySys,

I am in same situation with you. Perhaps, I can ask you a question since you've upgrades from 4.0 to 4.1.

I have an old server which runs 4.0, and need to migrate over to a new server.

During this process, I found out that same SRP can't be used, but my option is purchasing BES Upgrade software(4.1) or get support plan from Blackberry whichever is more cost efficient.

When you purchase upgrade software, did it come with a new SRP? Did you have to upgrade you CAL licenses as well? As far as I know, CAL never expires, but I am not sure if it's same case for Upgraded BES.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Re: BES 4.0.0 License transfer to BES 4.1.6 New Server

-if you are more concerned about movign BES to new machine its simple, follow this KB:

www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB10278

-to upgrade 4.0 to 4.1, you will need server software for 4.1 which you can obtain from RIM by purchasing support contract, and you wont need 2nd SRP if you are ok with some downtime; it depends on number of users you have.
