BlackBerry Expert Support Center

Greetings!

As you may have heard or read on various forum posts, RIM has recently launched the BlackBerry Expert Support Center as a new feature of the BlackBerry Technical Support Service program.  The BESC is an easy-to-use Web 2.0 application that allows direct access to Enterprise grade tools and resources that will help you support your BlackBerry solution more easily and independently. As a Named Caller on your subscription, you can visit the BESC to:

  • View your BlackBerry Technical Support Service subscription details (including the detailed Welcome Package that outlines all of the services you can take advantage of)
  • Access BlackBerry Enterprise Server software upgrades to ensure you are taking advantage of the latest and greatest features and functionality of BlackBerry software
  • Perform self diagnostic tests for enterprise activation using the new Enterprise Activation Readiness tool - a feature you've been asking for!
  • Manage service requests - you can view your open service request with BlackBerry Technical Support
  • Access a wide range of tools and resources to support BlackBerry smartphone users
  • Provide feedback to improve self service features

Invitations for our named callers to access the new portal began last week and will continue for the next few days. The BlackBerry Expert Support Center will continue to grow in features over the coming year.  Most of these new features will come from you and what you see as being high value support tools and make your job easier.  While inside, click on the Provide Feedback, within the Tools menu, to send us an email with your thoughts. RIM is very excited to offer this new service in assisting our customers to better support their BlackBerry solution.

Re: BlackBerry Expert Support Center

I think this is a step in a good direction. I really like the idea of the Enterprise Activation Readiness tool to be able to check if a BlackBerry is properly provisioned.  However, I would like to see this tool more easily available. Currently I work for a company closing in on 5000 handhelds. We have a T-Support 3 contract but because the limited number of named callers the people who could most benefit from this tool (help desk) cant access it. Heck, I am the escalation person for all handheld issues and I don't even have access. I might be able to get one of the named callers transfered to me, but there is no way they are going to give one to the help desk.

I agree with you. This tool is a great idea. It could save admin's a lot of time.

I am intrigued though. If you aren't a named caller, which kinds of positions are and what would you have to do to become a named caller? moverx.

You'd need to contact whomever in your organization is a named caller.  Start with the person that manages your relationship / TSupport contract with RIM.

Re: BlackBerry Expert Support Center

Does the Enterprise activation tool check the devices to see if they have the correct data plan only if they are on your internal network, or can you check any blackberry?

It is very nice IF you have a support contract.

The rest of us will have to drool over this tasty tidbit.

Re: BlackBerry Expert Support Center

I'm a named caller (news to me) for my company, and I'm trying to figure out if this feature would even be useful.  Can I check anyones device who called in to see if they are able to activate, or is it only people on a internal set up?

It will see if any device is provisioned correctly.
