Bad way to start with my first post as I suspect it shouldnt strictly be in this forum However please bear with me I guess I am asking for insight into the management of the below problem at a more global level.
I have a VIP User who has a secretary managing her Mail account by way of it being added as a secondary mailbox within the Outlook client. She has full access set at the server level.
When the secretary deletes an unwanted email from the VIP's inbox, She does so by selecting the email and dragging it to the VIP's deleted items folder.
This populates the Secretaries Deleted items and thusly doesnt update the BES nor the Handheld.
As the VIP has hundreds of emails a day this is an issue as the immediate workaround is for the secretary to double handle any unwanted emails
(Drag to VIP deleted folder.Drag from Secretaries folder to VIP 's deleted folder.)
We are using Cached mode in Exchange 2007. I am aware of the impact this has (Altho curiously the non updating tween the handheld and the Outlook client has happened on maybe 5 of 200 Blackberry users and has been resolved by ((Sadly)) rebuilding their Active Directory profiles) That was prior to me finding the issue posted here. Altho I havent found a way to permanently fix the issue. We use the cached mode ,Which is forced by Policy, and I dont think that this will change at any time soon. If anyone here has a faster less impactful fix (aside from turning off the cached mode) I would be greatful indeed.
I am leaning towards this more likely being an Outlook issue and this morning I will rebuild the local mail profile for the secretary, But wondered if I might ask the hive here if there were any other suggestions or insights into this.
Of course I will post the results of this as to whether I get success from this or not.
Cached mode on
My brain frazzled.
Two Coffess later I foind
I’m using an Exchange account and have also the mailbox of my boss configured in my Outlook. All works fine except that when I delete messages from this mailbox, the items are moved to my Deleted Items folder instead of the mailbox of my boss. How can I configure this?
You can do this via the registry (create the key if needed);
Value name: DelegateWastebasketStyle
Value Type: REG_DWORD
When the key is set to 8 or when the key is absent, the messages you delete from secondary mailboxes will end up in the Deleted Items folder of the primary mailbox. With the value set to 4, the messages will end up in the Deleted Items folder of the mailbox you deleted it from.
Note 1: Replace xx.x with the version number corresponding your version of Outlook. For Outlook 2007 this would be 12.0. Choosing Help-> About in Outlook will also expose this.
Note 2: The value name of the key is case sensitive.
Yet to be tested. But I will DBL confirm when i have.
