Possible to view browser history from BES?

Hello,

I have setup a proxy which allows me to see that a BB user is visiting inappropriate sites.  But the proxy cannot tell which berry or user it is.  Does the BES keep a log of the browser history?  Or is there another method I could use to find this information?  I do have the sites visited, date and times.

This is a BES 4.1 with about 40 users on Windows 2003 SP1.

Any help is appreciated.

Re: Possible to view browser history from BES?

Yes, the MDAT log will keep track of the MDS (HTTP) request through the BES and associates each request with a PIN.

That BlackBerry Resource Kit (BRK) has a tool called MDSPushvsPull that will process the logs for you and give you nice output.  Download the version that matches the version of BES you're using (the Service pack version must match, so make sure you get the exact one for the SP level you have on your 4.1 BES), and run this tool against the logs.

Thank you very much, I was able to find the culprit.  Now how to act on that when its your boss?  (sigh).

Thanks again, will try the other tool at a later time.

I feel your pain 100% there.  Many people are put in this situation; a casual conversation about the logging BES does in an off-hand manner will probably do the trick :smileyhappy:

Hi AndyDufresne

Can you please tell me where does this MDAT log stored in the BES ? I just want to check this manually.

Thanks in advance

Open the BlackBerry Server Configuration application in the start menu and you should see a logging tab.  It'll point you to where the logs are kept.
