Activating Blackberry 9900, error message "Activation failed. An error was encountered when sending the activation transmission".

Hi,

I am trying to activate a 9900 and having error message "Activation failed. An error was encountered when sending the activation transmission".

I have wiped the device, upgraded OS and asked phone carrier to reset setting on their side, but still having same error message. Server is BES Express 5. I have even tried enterprise activation with another user, but same error message. I can surf internet on the 9900.

Is there a hardware problem? What solution do you think will solve the problem?

Thanks,

Arvind

It is a BESAdmin rite of passage to go through the gauntlet of correcting the right BES data plan with your carrier.

Under Manage Connections on the device (OS 5 and higher), there's a services status which tells if connected to the data network.

For BES dataplan testing.

Re: Activating Blackberry 9900, error message "Activation failed. An error was encountered when sending the activation transmission".

I used the email troubleshooting assistant and all test was successfull. Provisioning, PIN Test, Send Service Books, Connection to BES express server and Blackberry insfrastructure all success. Even received test message on Blackberry.

When I did Enterprise Activation Readiness check, I did not get the test ETP email. The strange thing is that I tried 2 email account and did not get the test ETP email on any of the email account. Thus got Enterprise activation: Not ready. Provisioning result is provisioned correctly.

What should I do?

Maybe look at the BES logs to see why its failing

default location :\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerryEnterprise Server\Logs

Also look in event veiwer to seef if any errors or warnings pertain to your issue

Please post back the log info minus personal info

to isolate an affected user on a static messaging agent , then look for the MAGT log for that agent (while trying to send/receive messages). The format you'll be looking for is:

BESName_MAGT_##_yyyymmdd_####.txt

Where the first pair of digits are the Agent ID you set.

Enterprise Activation Readiness test is successful network@etp message was received from
network@etp1006.etp.na.blackberry.net. Do you know whether there is a problem with network@etp4-2.etp.eu.blackberry.net; I always get network@etp message from etp.eu.blackberry.net; but this time I am not getting it. Tried activating another Blackberry and same error message.

Do you know what the problem could be?

Thanks,

Arvind

Re: Activating Blackberry 9900, error message "Activation failed. An error was encountered when sending the activation transmission".

During the BlackBerry Enterprise Server software installation process the name or IP address of the Service Routing Protocol (SRP) host used to connect to the BlackBerry® Infrastructure must be specified on the BlackBerry Router Connection screen.

To determine the SRP address assigned to the country in which the BlackBerry Enterprise Server is being installed, use the SRP Addresses lookup tool located on the BlackBerry web site.

To determine the SRP address currently in use on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, perform the following steps:

  1. Click Start > Programs > BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
  2. Click BlackBerry Server Configuration.
  3. Click the BlackBerry Router tab.
