Hello all. Long time lurker, first time poster. Are we allowed to ask BES 5 install questions here? If so, here's mine...
I provisioned a new virtual machine for a clean install of BES 5.0. I have MSMQ installed (just the Common component) on Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard, but the BES install doesn't seem to show the Windows Messenger settings for LCS; it only asks for Communicator Web Access settings. Based on the documentation, this should still be an available configuration. What am I overlooking?

Which piece of documentation are you specifically looking at?

You know, I am trying to remember which document(s) I referred to and can't find it. I wonder if I mixed up 4.1 documentation with 5.0 at one point...

That happens to me all the time. I did look around a bit though and I think I may have found what you read. First though some background for anyone following this thread who isn't aware of the options in BES 4.1. In the past Windows® Messenger meant that TCP/TLS would be used for the connection to the Live Communications 2005 Server. The other option was Office Communicator which used HTTP/HTTPS. For Office Communications Server 2007, only HTTP/HTTPS were available.
In the BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange - Upgrade Guide for version 5.0 it is mentioned on several pages as upgrading from the "BlackBerry Collaboration Service for use with Windows® Messenger". It's not really clear here that it means upgrading to HTTP/HTTPS, but I believe that was the writer's intent. In the troubleshooting section on page 61 and 62 of that document it says "If the instant messaging in your organization's environment supports Windows® Messenger with TLS". I believe this is meant as HTTP over TLS, since TLS is essentially the successor to SSL.
I agree that this is rather unclear and I will suggest that it be updated. Thanks for bringing this up, I'm sure many other people will encounter the same question.
