I'm a bit stuck now... When I try to reinstall a new instance of BES Express with the same database the installer tells me it will install a "stand by instance of BES EXpress".

 

From there will I be able to migrate the users to the standby server if I have a second SRP ?

After that can I remove the first instance and only use the standby server ?

yes and yes.

 

 

 

if using the same SRP, it can be only a standby BES and not have 2 running.

Ok, but will it switch to stand by server if I do the following :

1.Stop All blackberry services except administration service on original service

2. Start Services on standby server

3. Will BES Xpress fall back automatically on this server because I tried the above but the server stayed in stand by and phones stopped recieving emails.

 

I am almost there and really want to get this over with, thanks for your patience,

essentialy you are doing a knife edge cutover as described here in this KB

stop one and start the other usually is all that is needed.

Unfortunately the switch is not working... Services are running on the second server for two hours and phones don't recieve emails anymore.

 

It says my server is still connected but in standby mode.

Old server is stopped....

Maybe time for a call then or start over from the knife edge cutover KB i posted.
