BES Express no longer sending email

Dear BES Experts

 

I've got Exchange 2010 and BES Express, not sure of the version number but it was installed earlier this year, so it's fairly recent.  Exchange is sat on it's own 2008 server.  BES Express sits on a virtual machine hosted on the Exchange box.

 

Yesterday I tried to plug the Exchange server into a new Gigabit switch, but there were some connectivity issues.  Since then BES has stopped sending out emails.  All the servers are talking to eachother happily on the network.  All the BES services are running, and I have also rebooted the BES server, however it's still refusing to send out email.

 

I'm pretty much a novice on BES so please be gentle with me.

I've fixed this now.  For anyone who gets the same error....

 

I was getting event 10277 "blackberry messaging agent failed to start" on my BES server. 

 

When I googled that error message I found this page:-

Basically what happened was the address book service on my Exchange server was not running when the BES server started up, so it couldn't connect to Exchange.

 

After I restarted the address book service I bounced my BES server again and now we're cooking with gas.

once BES loses connection to exchange or DC you should restart the BES server.
