Re: BES/SBE/BPS 4.x upgrade options to BES Express 5.0

I have 30 users in my BPS right now... Does anyone know how long it will take for the transporter to move all to the BESX?

I moved nine users at once and it took like two minutes

Re: BES/SBE/BPS 4.x upgrade options to BES Express 5.0

I just completed Option C in the migration.

The instructions for decommissioning is for BES servers and the options doesn't exist in BPS 4.1.

Are there documentation for decommissioning BPS 4.1.4 ?  do I just stop the services and run uninstall ?

(BPS 4.1.4 and Exchange 2003 on single Windows 2003 Server)

and remove the registry entries too if you want, they are all in one folder under RIM or research in motion.

Re: BES/SBE/BPS 4.x upgrade options to BES Express 5.0

i just stopped the services and the database and left it alone.  if it isn't running it isn't doing anyhting but taking up space on the hard drive.  i plan on formatting my old BPS server to install a newer OS anyway......so why waste the time uninstalling is my thought process

tru, if your going to flatten it, dont worry about uninstalling.

Re: BES/SBE/BPS 4.x upgrade options to BES Express 5.0

I was thinking there might some 'hook' in Exchange installed by BPS that may need to be removed.

Re: BES/SBE/BPS 4.x upgrade options to BES Express 5.0

There are no hooks to exchange, just permissisons on the BESAdmin service account.

Re: BES/SBE/BPS 4.x upgrade options to BES Express 5.0

Dear all

I would  move from BES 4.1.7.17 to latest BES Express version.

Current configuration:

BES 4.1.7.17 running Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 32 bit

15 users

database SQL Server 2000 SP3 on another server

Exchange Server 2007 SP1 on another server

Target configuration:

latest BESx version running on Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit

16 users

database SQL Server 2005 SP3 on another server

Exchange Server 2007 SP1 on another server

Steps:

since I cannot use the transporter due to the old source database, I will proceede as follow:

- Install the lates BES express version on a new machine. The database will be new on SQL Server 2005

- Use the actual besadmin account to connect to Exchange Server 2007

- Both BES and BESx server can work simultaniously

- Add a new user to BESx and test if everything works

For each devices running on BES:

- delete user on BES

- wipe device

- add user on BESx assigning the device just wiped

The last operation should be the BES uninstallation.

Is it the correct way to proceede?

Thank You

Why do you say that? SP7 is supported.
