Cannot find Database

I am very new at this, but when I try to install unite I get an error message that the database cannot be found.  How do I establish a database?

Thank you.

Re: Cannot find Database

Hi raytay,

If you're receiving that error message, that means the script that automatically generates the database for BlackBerry Unite! is not completing successfully. There will be errors generated in a log.

What I'd recommend you do is uninstall BlackBerry Unite!, BlackBerry Device Communication Components, and Microsoft SQL Desktop Engine. Once that's done, you'll need to delete the folders 'C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Unite' and 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server.' You can reboot the computer at this time. I'd also download the latest version of BlackBerry Unite! and install it onto the PC.

Let us know how that goes.

Re: Cannot find Database

I am having this same problem.  I have followed all these intstructions several times and nite will not install.  It keeps saying "Database server not found..."   I have two SQL entries installed on my Vista PC:

1. Microsoft SQL Server Native Client

2. MIcrosoft SQL Server Setup Support Files

DO I have to delete these also?

I am stumped.

Thanks

Re: Cannot find Database

Hi jofer,

You will have to uninstall BlackBerry Unite! and all three Microsoft SQL components. Once that's done, delete the folders listed above. Try to reinstall once that's complete.

I did that and it still will not install.  I get the same error.  Any other advice?
