Exchange 2010 Compatibility

[ Edited ]

Here is a link to some information about the current situation regarding BlackBerry Enterprise Server and Exchange 2010:

BlackBerry Enterprise Server and Exchange 2010 Compatibility

As always, the best way to see if anything is compatible is to check out the Compatibility Matrix for your platform. The latest version is always available at the following link:

Re: Exchange 2010 Compatibility

Just as an update to this, Maintenance Release 1 for BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0 SP1 has been released. This MR introduces support for Exchange 2010.

Check out the release notes

Re: Exchange 2010 Compatibility

Hi

Not sure if this is the place to ask - but I'm trying to ascertain whether or not its good practice to install BES Express on the same server as Exchange 2010.   There will be about 10 Blackberry users only and about 200 users on exchange.

Also for high availability with BES express what is the best practice solution.

Or is there any documentation that outlines best practice on these subjects.

Thanks

Re: Exchange 2010 Compatibility

Yes you certainly can install BES Express on Exchange 2010. Officially you should then only have a max of 75 users, but I've heard of people having more.

As for high availability, BES Express is missing the HA features of the full BES so there's nothing automatic.

In the 4.1 days you had the ability to setup a second server pointing to the same DB with the same instance name. If anything happened to the first server, you could boot the second and call it a day. We don't have that option in BES 5.0 anymore.

There are ways to hack together a second server and have the ability to manually move users over to the second server should anything happen, but realistically, it's easier to just ensure you have regular backups of your database so that you can rebuild the server without having to reactivate everyone. That's more disaster recovery than HA, but it's easier and makes more sense.

Re: Exchange 2010 Compatibility

Hi

Apologies if I am posting in the incorrect thread,

Just wanted to know if there is any documentation on how to install BlackBerry express server on a separate server from 2010 exchange and then connect it to exchange, basically we want to have it run on a separate server.

Any info is gladly appreciated.

Regards

Keegan

Re: Exchange 2010 Compatibility

Microsoft is very close to releasing SP2 for Exchange 2010.  Can anyone answer if BES 503 and/or BESX 503 will be capable of supporting it or if there is a corresponding SP for BES in the works to enable support for Exchange 2010 SP2?

Thanks,
