Install issue - OS version for Pro 4.1.4

I started Blackberry Pro 4.1.4 installation, on my Exchange 2007 Server - Windows Server 2003 Standard x64 Edition, Service Pack 2 Build 3790.  The pre-installation checklist it displayed shows

Operating System: Windows 2003 Terminal Server Service Pack 2

This really concerns me. I learned setting up this server how very careful you have to be maintaining 64-bit integrity.  Now this checklist is not telling me it's found a 64-bit operating system.  I ran the setup again, got the same result.

Also on this checklist, toward the bottom, under the header

Exchange Server Permissions (administrator)

it lists my server by name 5 times.  Four times with a checkmark it says

server: All Permissions

This fifth by its warning sign it says

server: No Permissions

Is this fifth one telling me something I'm supposed to know, but it's missing some detail?

Re: Install issue - OS version for Pro 4.1.4

You're fine with the OS explanation provided by the installer.

Did you follow this KB article for assigning permissions?: KB12483 - Set service account permissions in Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 using Exchange Managemen...

Re: Install issue - OS version for Pro 4.1.4

That same set service account permissions stuff is in the Getting Started Guide, I did it there.  I retry the set steps, it tells me ACE already exists.  Is it one right in particular it's complaining about?  Here's some copy and paste from the get command:

User                : CDCFCUNET\besadmin
Identity            : CDC-EXCHANGE
Deny                : False
AccessRights        : {Self, WriteProperty, GenericRead}
ExtendedRights      :
IsInherited         : False
Properties          :
ChildObjectTypes    :
InheritedObjectType :
InheritanceType     : All

User                : CDCFCUNET\besadmin
Identity            : CDC-EXCHANGE
Deny                : False
AccessRights        : {ExtendedRight}
ExtendedRights      : {ms-Exch-Store-Admin}
IsInherited         : False
Properties          :
ChildObjectTypes    :
InheritedObjectType :
InheritanceType     : All

User                : CDCFCUNET\besadmin
Identity            : CDC-EXCHANGE
Deny                : False
AccessRights        : {ExtendedRight}
ExtendedRights      : {Receive-As}
IsInherited         : False
Properties          :
ChildObjectTypes    :
InheritedObjectType :
InheritanceType     : All

User                : CDCFCUNET\besadmin
Identity            : CDC-EXCHANGE
Deny                : False
AccessRights        : {ExtendedRight}
ExtendedRights      : {Send-As}
IsInherited         : False

Re: Install issue - OS version for Pro 4.1.4

What you have posted doesn't help.  Are you able to continue through the installer?

Re: Install issue - OS version for Pro 4.1.4

Yes, I have several times continued through the installer, just to the Installation Summary - after selecting the local Database option.  It hasn't said any more about permissions in Exchange.  I think my next "Next" will launch the installation intself, and I've been holding off hoping to get all issues right first.

Re: Install issue - OS version for Pro 4.1.4

If there are issues that will prevent the installer from continuing it will stop you.

Re: Install issue - OS version for Pro 4.1.4

OK, I moved on through the install, restarted, setup restarted, finished.  Now I start up Blackberry Manager now, and see

"Failed to open the default message store using the MAPI pofile 'BlackberryManager'.  Please review the log for details; etc...."

I get hits on the forum, on Google.  This Exchange Server 2007 SP1, Blackberry Manager 4.1.4.15.  I've been through setting rights in Management Shell - View Only Admin, Send as, receive as, Administer Infor Store permissions.  I have a Public Folders infrastructure, though I've done little with it so far, it is there.  I see in event Viewer application log the Failed to open default message store, result=0x8004011d.  Any advice?  thanks

Are you logged in as your BES Admin account?  Enter in the Exchange server name and mailbox name.

Re: Install issue - OS version for Pro 4.1.4

I was not.  I logged out, logged in as BES Admin account, now it comes up working.  Should I do that always, log it in as BES Admin?  I don't have any reason not to, I guess.

Re: Install issue - OS version for Pro 4.1.4

You can login as anyone else, but when you do, the first time that user is logged in you'll be prompted to create a mapi profile.

The mapi profile is used to send messages from the BlackBerry Manager to users (such as when generating and sending an enterprise activation password).  The BlackBerry Manager will still open even if you don't fill out the MAPI profile info; but if you do decide to use another user you'll want to supply that users information in the mapi profile.  Either that or the BES Admin account  (but you'll need to grant permissions to the BES Admin account first.).
