New install of Blackberry Professional Server won't sync calendar

Hi,

I very recently installed Blackberry Professional Sever at a client site and while it pushes e-mail out to the two blackberrys I have configured for it (so far) it will not push out any contacts or calendar information. I've looked extensively at the getting started guide and followed it pretty well. The software doesn't seem to be reporting any errors. The Blackberry software resides on its own dedicated server (Windows Server 2003.) I am very concerned that I am unable to push appointments and contacts in real time. I will provide any needed information. I get one free incident to call RIM support with the purchase of the software (and the 10 cals) but I am not wanting to do that just yet in case there is a much larger problem down the road. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: New install of Blackberry Professional Server won't sync calendar

Can you post some log data?  Perhaps start with the ALRT log.

What mail platform are you running?  What version?

Re: New install of Blackberry Professional Server won't sync calendar

Hi. I am running version 4.1.4.15 of Blackberry Professional in a Microsoft Exchange 2003 (SP2) environment.

You want me to post the entire ALRT log? It's too big to post here.

If you want, you can zip up the whole day of logs and email them to bbandydufresne@gmail.com.  I'll look at them and will post back any relevant information into the thread removing any personally identifiable data; that is the only caveat ... just need to be able to post the info here to help others

Re: New install of Blackberry Professional Server won't sync calendar

can you zip and send the whole day of logs?

The alrt log shows a db connection error (and then successful connection) and also an srp failure but then connection ...

Are there any network issues possibly too?

Re: New install of Blackberry Professional Server won't sync calendar

There are no network errors. Initially I had installed the product using the Administrator account as the credential to log onto the database. Now I've reinstalled and changed that to the created "besadmin" user and done all of the other stuff to give that user send as permissions etc in the professional server. Mail is coming through great and so is address book contacts, just not the calendar at this point. I'm sure it's something simple. Let me get the logs to you.

Re: New install of Blackberry Professional Server won't sync calendar

Have you tried creating calendar events on the HH and seeing if they sync to the mailbox?

Re: New install of Blackberry Professional Server won't sync calendar

I did that. Currently I am installing the exchange system management tools on the BBP server as well as exchange service pack. I'll see if that helps. I was previously using the MAPI components from an Outlook install.

Re: New install of Blackberry Professional Server won't sync calendar

Um yeah; that is your problem.

You can't use the components from Outlook; must be ESM tools or the separate MAPI / CDO tools download MS offers.

The installation guide will tell you this.
