the second one removes a cache on the mail server for searches and message state.

 

I have not deleted a user for any issue in 5 years, sometimes a delete just fixes something you miss in settings.

 

once a user is removed the backup of user settings is removed, I have seen it where a user has been deleted and not able to activate again thus losing all their phone settings.

I agree, deleting a user is always my last option.
As stated, all other options have been tried..
Do you know another way to re-sync contacts from scratch?
