Unable To Start Services - Application Server and Native Code Container

Hi,

I am unable to start two of the BlackBerry services. Everything launched they fail immediately. I can see the failures in the event log ... but have not been able to get them to start. This has been going on for over a week now. Server has been rebooted. I am running BES Express 5.0.1.

BlackBerry Administration Service - Application Server

BlackBerry Administration Service - Native Code Container

4096 - BAS-NCC

4097 - BAS-NCC

4098 - BAS-NCC

4096 - BAS-AS

4097 - BAS-AS

4098 - BAS-AS

Re: Unable To Start Services - Application Server and Native Code Container

I am guessing this is a new install.

Do you have any errors in BAS AS logs?

default location :\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerryEnterprise Server\Logs

What mail server and service pack level are you on?

Re: Unable To Start Services - Application Server and Native Code Container

Not a new install ... but the issue turned out to be Java. If you update Java you have to update the paths in the registry for both applications.

Thats is true, I also turn off java updates so it will never happen.

Hi Mizzfit,

I would be forever indebted to you if you could give me more detail regarding the registry settings you modified to fix the issue between Java and BAS.

Thanks!!

Re: Unable To Start Services - Application Server and Native Code Container

schendels:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BAS-NCC\Parameters

JVM Library - C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\client\jvm.dll

and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BAS-AS\Parameters

JVM Library - C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\client\jvm.dll

I believe those were the only two that I had to modify.

Hope it helps!

Ryan

Re: Unable To Start Services - Application Server and Native Code Container

Wow,

Those settings were correct. After a call to RIM, it turned out all I needed to do was login to the server using the same user account I used to install the application; besadmin.

Duh, ha?

Thanks for your tip!!
