BDS and UDS on same Server - Problem with port 4446

I tried to install BDS and UDS on the same server. UDS was first installed. When installing BDS, everything seems to be OK, but when the BAS for the BDS is starting, there is an error, saying "port 4446 is already in use".

Does anybody also had this issue?

Re: BDS and UDS on same Server - Problem with port 4446

Hi comomap,

This KB article may be of some assistance resolving this issue. "Installing BlackBerry Device Service, Universal Device Service, and BlackBerry Management Studio on the same host server" KB32547

Please let me know if that helps.

Re: BDS and UDS on same Server - Problem with port 4446

Hi Frankie,

the problem is, that when the BAS of the BDS is starting, there is an error saying "port 4446 already in use. jvm bind". i am not able to log into the BAS. The BBAS-log grows about 10 MB when starting. The UDS was installed first on the machine, the BlackBerry Enterprise Web Services are running properly. Management Studio is not installed. i have done more than 50 installations and never got this error. When tracing with TCPView, i see a blackberrywebservices.exe on port 4446. don't know how to change this port. Any idea so far?

Kind regards,

Marcus

Re: BDS and UDS on same Server - Problem with port 4446

Helli comomap,

Port 4446 is used by the BlackBerry Web Services for UDS only. 4446 is not used by BDS. I would suggest using a command window and running Netstat –ano to find out what is using that port on your server.

The following steps should help:

1. Stop the “BlackBerry Web Services” Service in services.msc
2. Open a command windows and run as administrator
3. Type Netstat –ano and hit enter
4. Find :4446 and copy the PID number on the right and compare it to the PID numbers in Task manager (processes tab) to see what else is using the port.
5. Once you figure out whatever else is using 4446 change that program so that it frees up the port for UDS.

Re: BDS and UDS on same Server - Problem with port 4446

Hello FB,

thanks for your mail.

I checked the PID and found in Task Manager, that the "BlackBerryWebServices" is having this PID.

The UDS is running properly. Only the BDS has the error i wrote in my mail.

Kind regards,

comomap

Re: BDS and UDS on same Server - Problem with port 4446

Hello Comomap,

The knowledge base article previously listed is recommended by BlackBerry Technical Support to avoid port conflicts when installing more than one component of the BES-10 package on a single host. However UDS should be the only component that is utilizing the port 4446.

I would recommend contacting BlackBerry Support for assistance at this stage.
