BES 10 IT policies (BDS 6.2)

Hi

BES 5 has in excess of 500 IT polcies available with very granular control over the device.

BDS 6.2 seems to have a fraction of what BES 5 has.

Am I missing something obvious here?

Thanks

Daniel

Re: BES 10 IT policies (BDS 6.2)

According to the policy reference spreadsheet, there are only 35 policy settings available

Re: BES 10 IT policies (BDS 6.2)

Is there a similar spreadsheet for the UDS IT Policies? I looked but couldn't find one.

Thanks

WOW, there's life in these forums.

it seems the roadmap and featureset of BES is confidential and noone is allowed to respond.

So we're all alone for now.

Maybe one day blackberry will check their inbox.

Maybe they don't have their BES10 server setup yet so they aren't receiving them on their BB10s :smileytongue:

You also answered you're question - there are not that much policies anymore.

BlackBerry will release more policies later, but you do not need that much policies as in BES 5.0.

For UDS, there is currently no such overview (at least I don't know one).

Re: BES 10 IT policies (BDS 6.2)

Documentation says you can disable balance for instance, there's no policy for this.

How about polices such as ;

Controlling Messenger

Controlling Camera

Controlling Wi-Fi

Controlling IP-Modem

Disabling certain built in apps

Re: BES 10 IT policies (BDS 6.2)

sorry, do not understand your thread.

The Policies that are listed here  http://docs.blackberry.com/en/admin/deliverables/48974/BlackBerry_Device_Service_6.2_Policy_and_Prof... is everything that is available right now. And that guide is not telling that you can disable balance.

If you want more Policies wait for the BES10 advanced which will be released later this year.

If you want to tell BlackBerry that you are not satisfied I would recommend contacting your BlackBerry Technical Account Manager or open a case with BlackBerry.

Re: BES 10 IT policies (BDS 6.2)

On page 92 of the BlackBerry_Device_Service_6.2_Administration_Guide it says

"You can create user accounts that can activate devices that use BlackBerry Balance technology which allows both a workspace and a personal space, or devices that just have a work space."

It doesn't say how you can do this though.

I am just evaluating BES 10 and don't have an account manager or a support contract.

Isn't a forum a place where you can publicly air your views anyway?

After all this waiting it's just a little disappointing that BES10 doesn't seem to complete (as compared to previous BES) plus I wasn't aware of BES10 advanced.

Re: BES 10 IT policies (BDS 6.2)

Seems Admin Guide is wrong - you cannot disable Personal Space right now, but Policy Guide does not include this mistake.

You can register at blackberry.com/besc to get a free support call (just for information, guess it is not necessary to waste a free support call for that).
