BES 5.0.1 mr2 Config nightmares!!!!

[ Edited ]

Okay, so I am having a hell of a time getting 5.0.1 configured and working correctly. After countless hours on the phone with RIM and making it all the way up to a RIM Engineer, I was told that my issue cannot be resolved - why am I paying for tech support? I am hoping someone out there has run into this same problem and can provide help.

Here is the error i am getting in my logs:

(05/28 16:30:34:241):{main} [org.jboss.system.ServiceController] [WARN] Problem starting service jboss:service=KeyGeneratorFactory,type=HiLoorg.jboss.util.NestedSQLException: Could not create connection; - nested throwable: (com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: The driver could not establish a secure connection to SQL Server by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption. Error: The TDS protocol stream is not valid..); - nested throwable: (org.jboss.resource.JBossResourceException: Could not create connection; - nested throwable: (com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: The driver could not establish a secure connection to SQL Server by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption. Error: The TDS protocol stream is not valid..))

Basically its come down to RIM saying its because we have SSL enabled on the SQL server (server 2k5 sp2). But here's the kicker we DO NOT! And thus RIM throws their hands in the air - and says that this issue will be resolved in upcoming service packs, and the work around is to install SQL locally - Which technically defeats the purpose of High Availability - but I digress.

This is my latest correspondence with RIM:

The issue with the BAS-AS.exe process reaching 180,000 K and then restarting as well as the issue with error message "The TDS protocol stream is not valid" were caused by the same factor, as mentioned in the following article, which is how we came to the conclusion of what steps needed to be taken to correct the issue.

Article Title: BlackBerry Administration Console is unavailable and the BAS-AS log shows "Error: The TDS protocol stream is not valid"

The cause and the workarounds available are provided, and there is a mention of no resolution being available but that it is being investigated by our development team. If you have questions about something that is not covered in this article, feel free to reply to this message. You can also call one of the numbers below, choose option 1 during the greeting, and enter the last seven digits of your case number.

I've followed all sorts of little tips and tricks from sites like this:

So does anyone out there have any suggestions?
