BES Migration with different Maintenance Releases

I currently have a BES with 5.0.1 SP1.  I will be installing a new BES in my domain.  I would like to install 5.0.1 MR2 on the new installation so that when I move users to the new BES they will be Exchange 2010 compatible.  Is this possible?

Re: BES Migration with different Maintenance Releases

If using trasporter to move them to a different database that will work fine.

If both on the same database you should have both at same patch level and MR levels.

Re: BES Migration with different Maintenance Releases

So either way I would have to schdule an outage to upgrade my BES servers?

Re: BES Migration with different Maintenance Releases

no outage is needed, transporter will only take a minute to move a user over.

Most users never even notice it.

Whit a common database there is nothing to notice, it just moves over and users get new service books and encryptions keys.

Just make sure your encryption matches the old BES.

Re: BES Migration with different Maintenance Releases

Why do I need to use the transporter tool if I can use the "Move user to another Blackberry Server" through the BAS?

Re: BES Migration with different Maintenance Releases

Re: BES Migration with different Maintenance Releases

common.  The issue with the transporter tool is that we have a lot of users with OS version 4.2 on their devices.  I read with the transporter tool that IT Policies will need to be reapplied to these users.
