Re: BES v5 handheld cant view attachment eg. jpeg, gif, etc....

Has anyone come up with a solution for viewing the PDF's and images yet?  I just installed mine and somehow missed this post and I'm now in the same boat.  I can tell you that the managers at my company are not going to want to manual download the attachments and open them.

Did you install Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2?

I've started debug mode on the attachment service.  Is there a better way of getting something useful to figure this out than just pasting the entire log over serveral messages?

Re: BES v5 handheld cant view attachment eg. jpeg, gif, etc....

Hi everyone,

I had the same problem as well. I am running BES5 on a Win2k8 R2 x64 machine.

I fixed it by installing the Attachment service onto another computer (Win2k3). Stopping the old instance and adding the Support Attachment connectors over to the new instance. Then I restarted the BlackBerry controller, MDS, and Router services. Hope this helps!

Thanks,

Geoff

Re: BES v5 handheld cant view attachment eg. jpeg, gif, etc....

Yeah, it pretty much confirmed what I thought.  It appears that while you can get Windows Server 2008 R2 to load, the attachment service can't properly convert any attachements while running on a 2008 R2 server.  I scrapped the whole server and switched back to an 2008 x64 machine.  At least, I will be able to do an inplace upgrade to R2 when RIM catches up.

Thanks for the help.
