Can't publish bar files for work space

[ Edited ]

Hello:

when I published bar files for work space ,I got the follow errors:

First,I click  ‘BlackBerry solution management--Software--Applications--Add or update applications‘

Then,I select the local bar file and click the 'next' button,it will  display the app's name and it's description

Finally,I click the 'Publish application' button,it'll cause the error msg:"The BlackBerry Administration Service was unable to store the application due to the directory permissions on the application network share. Please change these permissions"

I'm sure the service account has the write permission for the "Research In Motion" directory.

Anyone can help me?

Re: Can't publish bar files for work space

Hello cnneil,

Thank you for your question regarding publishing .BAR files.

Can you please confirm on the folder that hosts the applications that the Service Account (BESAdmin) has full rights to the folder and share (Read and Write) also the Everyone Group would need Read access.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Re: Can't publish bar files for work space

I'm sure the Service Account(BESAdmin) has full rights to the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Research In Motion",but I can't find the exact share folder,so I can't confirm the Everyone Goup's rights.
Can u tell me the default path of files share folder?

Re: Can't publish bar files for work space

Hello cnneil,

Here are the steps to create a software share.

Task 1

Complete the following steps to create and share the application folder:

  1. On the BlackBerry Enterprise Server or any network enabled computer, create a new folder.
  2. Right-click the folder and select Properties.
  3. Click the Sharing tab.
  4. Click Share this folder. (For Windows 2008 Server and Windows 2008 R2 Server select Advanced Sharing)
  5. Click Permissions.
  6. Click Add.
  7. Enter the service account, select Check Name, then OK.
  8. Under the Allow column, select the Full Control permission and close the Permissions window.
  9. Click on the Security tab.
  10. Click Permissions.
  11. Click Add.
  12. Enter the service account, select Check Name, then OK.
  13. Under the Allow column, select the Full Control permission and close the Permissions window.
  14. Click Close to close the Properties window of the folder.

Task 2

Complete the following steps to define the share in the BlackBerry Administration Service:

  1. In the BlackBerry Administration Service, on the left pane, expand BlackBerry Solution Topology > BlackBerry Domain > Component View.
  2. Select BlackBerry Administration Service.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and select Edit Component.
  4. In the Network Drive area, in the field next to BlackBerry Administration Service shared network drive:, type \\<hostname>\<sharename>.
  5. Select Save all.

Task 3

1. Now try adding your .bar file again.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I'm assuming these bar files are converted Android applications.   These can not be pushed via the BlackBerry Enterrprise Server as there is no Android runtime in the the workspace.  Android applications can only run in the personal side.
