I am trying to configure my new BES 5.0 to allow me to push 3rd party applications. (Google Maps, for example) I have been able to configure the server to acknowledge the location of the device software and create the configuration to deploy 4.5 of the handheld software. However, when I open Software - Applications - Add or Update Applications to add a software package to the server for deployment I receive the following error "The specified file path is invalid. Please adjust the entry." It doesn't seem to matter where I point it, be it my "\\server\research in motion" share, the desktop, our corporate transfer folder that has wide open permissions for everyone. I get the same error each time. I have tried sending the application bundle with my admin account, the BES admin account, the default BAS admin account and even my user account... no luck. Any ideas?

Just a quick check. Did you happen to define the application share yet?
BlackBerry Solution Topology >> BlackBerry Domain >> Component View >> BlackBerry Administration Service >> Edit Component >> BlackBerry Administration Service application shared network drive

Under Software management in that location I have "\\servername\research in motion". This is the same share I used in 4.1 to push software. If it helps any, we had to do an inplace upgrade from 4.1.6 to 5.0.

what's the extension of the app you are trying to deploy - i had the same issue due to the extension - .jad - bes server doesnt support these kind fo files - they are ota only --
the format needs to be alx cod for bes to deploy them

I am trying to deploy GoogleMaps and a piece of keyboard software called CoolMIR. Both of which I had deployed under 4.1.6. I am using the same .zip files that I built the packages with before. I have also tried a newer version of Googlemaps and a copy of Microsoft Live Messenger for BB to see if that would help. Same error each time. It's like it doesn't like my path, no matter where I put the software or point the share.

The file i am trying to deploy is in a .zip format, within the .zip are two files, an .alx and a .cod.
I have the \\servername\Research In Motion shared with full permissions for everyone in an attempt to rule out permissions being the problem.
I'm rockin the BlackBerry Passport, Z30, Z10, Q10, BlackBerry Mini Stereo Speaker, 64 gig PlayBook, BlackBerry Wireless Headset HS-700

In version 4.1 you would unzip the application into the correct folder and run the loader.exe to notify the software the program was available. Under version 5 it asks for a server location and a .zip file. I assume it does the extract and load on its own... Though I have not been able to get it to work to see this happen.

I'm having issues too with application deployment, but I got further than you.
Definitely keep it in the zip format.
Actually for clarification, at which point is it giving you that error message? When you browse and select the ZIP file or after that?
