We have an 8850i (curve) and the IT guy before me never was able to get BES Express working for the VP. I have implemented and used BES Express (but this was some time ago when it was first released) with no problem. So I was in the middle of setting this up and asked our MS guy if he enabled previous version Outlook support when he did the upgrade of our server in December.
When I told him why I was asking he told me that BES Express edition did not work with Server 2008 SP2 and Exchange 2007 (this is not the SBS version) yet. However, I looked at the OS comparison matrix from RIM and it shows that 5.0.1 works with it (if I am reading it correctly).
Before I go any further here, am I going to run into any problems with compatability?
Finally, are there any other options to BES (not BIS, I know about that) that can give me sync functionality? I want to be able to not only send and receive emails, but to have my folders and calender synced as well; however, I do not really need all the rest of the features BES offers. I think it is a good deal for SMB's, but don't need all that is required. It would be awesome for it to be able to use ActiveSync like the iPhone does.
