I cannot find anything else that would indicate why this is happening.  The blackberry KB article detailing how to troubleshoot SRP failures was followed all the way through, with no interruptions in the connections.

Re: Phones do not send/receive emails

[ Edited ]

Well it looks like messages are pending to be sent so the agents seem to be in good shape. You mentioned looking at the SRP connection article, is the SRP showing as disconnected in the BAS?

What services are started?

Did this start overnight? Any reboots in the environment or anything else change?

Re: Phones do not send/receive emails

The BAS console is completely new to me, I'm not sure how to tell if anything is amiss (I did not install the server, I'm the new support guy).  All services listed with Blackberry are started:

Blackberry Administratior Service - Application Server

Blackberry Administration Service - Native Node Container

Blackberry Alert

Blackberry Attachment Service

Blackberry Controller

Blackberry Dispatcher

Blackberry MailStore Service

Blackberry MDS Connection Service

Blackberry Policy Service

Blackberry Router

Blackberry Synchronization Service

I checked the SRP conenction because my google search of the event log errors pointed me in that direction.  It was worth a shot.  I've also restarted the server to no effect.  This started happened at 11:51 yesterday morning.  No environment changes occured that I'm aware of, and I'd be the only one making those changes.

Thank you for your assistance!

Re: Phones do not send/receive emails

Let's make sure the SRP is connected:

In the BAS, head over to Servers and Components >> BlackBerry Domain >> Component View >> BlackBerry Enterprise Server >> Click on the instance name (it'll be displayed as "instance name" on "server name")

Under SRP information you'll see if it's connected or not.

Re: Phones do not send/receive emails

It says disconnected!  Yay, progress!  In my research, someone else with this issue had some sort of temporary SRP ID, mine is listed as T60747772, does the 'T' mean temporary?

When I tested the SRP, I was able to reslve the hostname, ping the host, traceroute to the host with no timeouts, and telnet to the host seemed to connect (although I got no text like you would if you connected to a mail sever, it did not time out  and close the connection).

BBSRPTest succeeds to us.srp.blackberry.com.  The event log error 20000 is telling me "Error calling host ''localhost'' [127.0.0.1]  I can't imagine the configuration would change somehow so that the server is trying to connect to itself..?

Re: Phones do not send/receive emails

The "T" stands for Temporary. I just did a lookup on the SRP and it appears to have expired.

It's likely nothing else is wrong with the server other than the fact that there's no longer a valid SRP for it to connect with.

Was this a trial version of the server?

Permanent SRP IDs start with an "S."

Re: Phones do not send/receive emails

The install notes from my engineer lists:

TRIAL - Blackberry Enterprise SErver 5.0 for Exchange - 20 user

Is it just a license key that we need to install?  There was some confusion when blackberry sent us the licenses, so we may have put in the wrong one...

Re: Phones do not send/receive emails

further:

·         Permanent licensing was sent a number of times because emails about licensing kept saying 1 user license. As a result Research In Motion (RIM) sent a number of licenses which are all shown below and which have also been attached to this email. Using the process noted in the hyperlink below I changed trial licensing to permanent licensing.

Re: Phones do not send/receive emails

Yes, that would definitely make sense that it was a trial version. Trial versions are full featured for 90 days, after which you have to purchase the server in order to receive a full, permanent SRP.

It is something that you will have to change in the BAS. In fact, if you go to that page we were looking at and scroll to the bottom, there's a link that reads "Edit Instance." After clicking this link, you can edit the SRP ID and SRP authentication keys with the permanent values.

Anything in the previous tech notes about having already purchased one?
