Re: Secure Work Space - Push notification

All they said was that "there was a known issue about this that was recently fixed" nothing else.

You might want to take a look in your asg.log to see if there are any errors there.

It seems that when everything is working properly on my end, I see the following entries in the asg.log file each time an email is identified as needing a push notification sent.

INFO : EwsEmailNotificationController:136 - Content-Length: 1492
INFO : EwsNotificationMarshaller:129 - Data-Length: 1492
INFO : AuthChallengeProcessor:101 - NTLM authentication scheme selected

You will also see the following repeated every 2 minutes:

INFO : EwsScheduleServiceImpl:141 - staring running polling email registrations from Adam server...

If your log consists mostly of the above messages with the occasional java.lang.NullPointerException if it has connection issues then it's probably working and you'll need to deal with RIM to figure out why it isn't.

Re: Secure Work Space - Push notification

I still get the following errors in the asg.log:

[localhost-startStop-1] ERROR: EwsStartUpServiceImpl:117 - Failed to check in to /asg/v1/CheckIn with nodeKey <xxx>

 [localhost-startStop-1] INFO : ASGStartupServlet:60 - ASG started

 [schedulerFactory_Worker-1] ERROR: EwsScheduleServiceImpl:114 - Unable to subscribe for notification of {}

I will open a ticket now, thanks guntoi

Re: Secure Work Space - Push notification

[ Edited ]

Yes, after RIM fixed their infrastructure issue(s) it started to work correctly. The issue was on the RIM side, it was not related to my configuration.

That said, it did take a while to get things setup correctly. The documentation (which basically doesn't exist) is terrible.

One thing I noticed during my testing is that the service that handles the push notifications has issues with passwords that are long, or have special characters on the account you setup to monitor Exchange. I would continuously get the following NTLM authentication error in my asg.log file until I dumbed down the password significantly.

Failure authenticating with NTLM <any realm>@server.mydomain.com:443

If you see this error, try changing the password assigned to the account you configured in UDS to something basic. This caused me no end of grief because the service would fail to connect despite the fact that the password was valid.

However there still does not seem to be any push mail arriving on the work connect client unless I open the client manually.

Can I check how long it should take to receive a push mail after it arrives in the mailbox?

Also how long after restarting the BES10 Services does it take for push notifications to start working?

Thanks,

Re: Secure Work Space - Push notification

You should be seeing entries in your asg.log file similar to:

[http-apr-8088-exec-3] INFO : EwsEmailNotificationController:136 - Content-Length: 1085
[http-apr-8088-exec-3] INFO : EwsNotificationMarshaller:129 - Data-Length: 1085

These should appear every time an email notification needs to be sent. If you are not seeing this, you are likely not connecting to your Exchange server correctly and may need to double check that you have permissions set correctly for the EWS monitoring account, etc.

You may also wish to look in the Event Log on your CAS server for any errors, or in the Security Log to see if there are any authentication success or failure messages for your EWS monitoring account. You can also enable EWS logging in IIS to see if there are any entries related to your BES server or monitoring account.

Make sure the password you are using for the monitoring account is not using any special characters and is not overly long. There seems to be an issue with this.

When it's all working correctly, you should see entries in the asg.log each time an email notification is required, and you will also see connections to IIS in the CAS server logs showing connections from the BES server IP using the name of the account you setup for EWS polling.

Re: Secure Work Space - Push notification

You would change the password of the AD account you are using to connect to EWS from the BES.
