Trying to figure out how to best set up BES for our situation

I’m working on upgrading BES on our server (SBS 2003) but I’m having trouble figuring out how best to do it since there are a few variables. We currently have BES 4.1 SP6 for our older devices, and we’ve been using ActiveSync for our newer BB10 devices. I held off on installing BES 10 because at the time I found that BES 4.1 and BES 10 couldn’t coexist on the same server. This has been working fine for us but now my boss recently got an employee a new iPhone, and I was looking into MDM solutions for iPhones and realized that the easiest thing to do would probably be to get BES 10 since it will work with our BB10 devices as well as iPhone and Android devices.

It seems to me that BES 4.1 (or maybe I need to upgrade to BES 5 first?) can coexist with BES 10 on the same server now, which is great. But now there is another little wrinkle… we are going to be migrating from Exchange email to having email hosted on Office 365. I see that there is “BES for Microsoft Office 365” but it seems to only support devices running BB 7.1 or earlier, unless the documentation I’m reading is outdated, so that obviously wouldn’t work for us.

So, it seems like this is a tricky situation but if anyone has any suggestions I’d greatly appreciate it!

Re: Trying to figure out how to best set up BES for our situation

you will be at the mercy of O365 but can use active sync with it

Might even be able to use BES 10 with it too

there is also a cloud service coming soon
