That's correct. You should be able to. However, if you run the console and the port is conflicting, it will give you the errors that you saw previously.
True, you are probably able to run BAS on two servers. Our situation was different though. We have two BES servers sharing the same database. One of the servers is meant to host the BAS service. Since they were sharing the same database, all administration could be done from 1 BAS site. Therefore there was no need for the BAS service to be enabled on both servers. RIM mentioned that this caused a stale session which typically means that there are two BAS instances which cannot communicate with one another.
We thought a port conflict could be the problem as well. This was not the case. I even tried to change the port number and the problem still existed. We changed it to 663.
